Public website privacy notice
Privacy, in plain view.
This notice explains how Simian Ltd handles information from visitors to Rainmaker's public pages and people who contact us through the website.
Last updated 5 October 2026
Who is responsible
Simian Ltd, based in London, England, UK, is the controller of personal information collected through the public Rainmaker website and its contact form. For privacy questions or requests, use our contact form or email privacy@simian.ltd. If you do not have a company, enter “Individual” in the form's company field.
This notice covers the public landing page, From the Canopy articles and the contact form. An authenticated customer workspace has different data flows. A customer organisation may be the controller of information it places in that workspace, with Simian Ltd acting as its processor under the applicable customer arrangement. This public notice does not replace that arrangement.
Information we use
If you send an enquiry, we collect your name, company, work email address and message. Please include only information needed for the conversation. Contacting us is optional, but these four fields are required to submit the form; without them we cannot receive or respond to an enquiry through it. We store the enquiry time, a reference number and its handling status; internal operators may add a status note and an audit event. We also use limited technical information to avoid recording the same submission twice.
Website and infrastructure services may process technical and security information such as IP address, request time, browser or device details and error information. Application request logging is configured to redact request bodies, authorisation headers and cookies. Technical logs are separate from the enquiry record.
The current public pages do not implement analytics or advertising trackers. Essential security or session technologies may be used by the hosting service or if you choose to log in.
Why we use it
We use enquiry details to understand and respond to your business request, manage follow-up and keep a record of how it was handled. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to business enquiries and operating Rainmaker. We use limited technical data to keep the website reliable and secure on the same basis. We may also use information when necessary to meet a legal obligation.
The contact form is not a newsletter sign-up. Sending it does not give us consent to send a newsletter. The current public contact path records the enquiry for our team; it does not send its contents to an AI provider or trigger an automated marketing email. We do not make solely automated decisions through this public flow that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
Who can access it
Authorised Simian platform operators can review and update contact enquiries. Google Cloud provides the application and database hosting, with the application data hosted in its London region. Cloudflare provides domain name system (DNS) service and handles the redirect from simian.ltd to Rainmaker. It may receive technical request information for that redirect. Cloudflare also forwards messages sent to our privacy email address to a designated Simian mailbox, so it may process those emails and their metadata. The Rainmaker website is not proxied through Cloudflare, and the website contact form is not sent through its email forwarding service. We may disclose information where law requires it or to protect legal rights. We do not sell contact enquiries.
Processing across borders
London hosting does not mean every service or support operation stays in the UK. Google may process service and support information in other countries. We review the applicable transfer mechanism and safeguards for such processing; Google publishes its Cloud Data Processing Addendum. We do not claim that all personal information remains in the UK or that a particular transfer agreement has been completed for every service. Contact us if you need information about an applicable transfer safeguard.
How long we keep it
We retain enquiry records according to the time needed to handle the request and relevant follow-up, maintain security and audit records, and meet legal or dispute-related needs. We assess those needs when reviewing or responding to a deletion request. The public contact system does not currently have an automatic deletion schedule, so we do not promise a fixed retention period. Technical logs and backups follow their own service lifecycles.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you can ask to access or correct your information, have it erased, or restrict its use. Data portability applies only where its legal conditions are met. If we use consent for a future activity, you may withdraw that consent at any time without affecting prior lawful processing. Use our contact form or email privacy@simian.ltd to make a privacy request. We may need to verify your identity before acting.
Questions and complaints
Please contact us first if you have a concern. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). If you are in the EU or EEA, you may contact your relevant data protection authority; the European Data Protection Board lists those authorities.
Changes to this notice
We will update this page when our public website practices change and show the revised date above.
